Did head gasket repair in April, had heads reworked, installed comp R lifters and 1.6 crane gold rockers. Adjusted the valves with engine not running, started car and sounded and ran good, but being paranoid went ahead and set them again with engine running 1/4 turn past 0 lash. Question is.... how loud are yours ? Mine are definatley noisey at idle and hoping couple of them are not coming loose. Tick noise heard at times... comes and goes. Dont want to mess with the valves again, sound normal ?

I cant hear mine. You might pull the valve covers to see if they are hitting the covers. I have after market aluminum covers that are a little taller.

What oil are you using? Oil selection can help quiet them down if they are indeed adjusted right. Roller rockers will be noisier than stamped, but if everything is in order they do not need to be loud.

Did you use the self-aligning or guide plate style? I have had the self aligning Crane Race Golds on my car for about 30K miles and they are noisy. I'm running 1/4 turn past 0 lash also. They do not sound any better if I go tighter than that.

Self aligning rockers are noiser than non self aligning.

Are they noisy at any RPM above idle? Mine quiet down right above idle. If they are noisy thoughout the RPM band you might have a loose rocker. If you have alittle noise at idle I wouldn't worry about.

Thanks for the replies guys. My daily driver is my totally stock T/A and hardly ever drive the Z, so I guess what Iam doing is comparing the T/A to the Z. I use 10W/30 oil and self aligning rockers and the noise is only at idle. Iam probably just hearing normal noise. This gives me a reason to drive the Z more often and get used to the noise or see if it gets worse.
