How to properly break in a clutch?

How to properly break in a clutch?

I've been reading many different posts about clutches pros and cons, and always seem to see a reccurring line, "did you break in the clutch correctly?" Is it possible to break in a clutch, if so how?

You just want to do 500 miles of NORMAL driving, No high rpm's, let it heat cycle a couple times, no burnouts, nothing abusive. just baby it for 500 miles then its good to go bud.

Same here. Back then that was about a week and a half of normal driving which got the break in done pretty quick.

As above, just remember that highway and constant speeds don't count. Needs to be traffic miles.

I'm in the process of breaking mine in. How high rpms is to high. I took it to about 4500 about 2 or 3 times to see how much noise the tranny would make.

Not driving at high rpm's. It's the high rpm clutch drops that hurt. Just allow the rpm's to come down before ingaging the next gear. No power shifts.

Of coarse thats city stop and go type miles not highway

all the break in should consist of IMO is pressing in the clutch pedal to make sure its works and if it works w/o making any strange noises then its good to go. the only reason i could see a guy needing to take it easy for 50-500 miles is to make sure its working properly.. theres no wear pattern thats supposed to develope. JMO

I aint never heard of breakin no clutch in so I didnt do it myself. If the flywheel is flat and the pressure plate is flat and the clutch disc in between the two is flat then what has to seat properly or be broken in? I would drive it just long enough to make sure its working then run the hell out of it.

thats ghey... post count has nothing to do with how much info a person may know

he put his clutch in and made sure everything was right and after 60 miles he had it wide open and spinnin tires... clutch is still grabbing now too

You probably don't have to break in the clutch. But will it hurt it, NO. So you might as well just to be safe.
