How tough is the LT1?
I was just wondering how tough this motor is. Like how many miles can you expect out of it or how hot has it got on you and it not done anything to hurt the motor? Also how hard can you run them? Just a few things i've been wondering

There are LT1's on here that have over 200k on the original stock motor. They are a little more rare but many people have well over 100k on them and still put down very good power and times. I beleive there are some stock shortblock LT1's that have run into the 10's as well, don't know if they ran 10's for long but they got their on the stock shortblock. I've made around 40 1/4 passses on my relatively "stock" block without breaking a single part. It's a tough motor even in stock form.

Small Block Chevy's are some of the toughest motors around IMO. If you keep it stock and run it hard it should do fine as long as you maintain it I.E: proper oil changes, transmission oil changes, etc. I think your tranny or rear end will go before the motor will. I'm sure other people will chime in with their own stories and such about LT1's. I've had mine over 2 years and no problems and I just hit 90,000 miles.

Engine build quality has gotten alot better over the years. Its nothing to pull one of these engines apart after 100k+ and still see the cross-hatch on the cylinders. You can't really judge by mileage alone.... good maintanence plays a big part.
