how would you get 300hp from lt1
#31
Since you have the heads off... have them milled about .030" and use a nice thin gasket. The felpro 1074s are a popular choice. That should bump your compression a little. Get a set of used 1.6 RRs. Upgrade your tired old springs to LT4 springs. Put a set of headers on your car. A nice catback can be had for cheap. A cold air induction would help. You can get out pretty cheap if you try. Trade your stock heads for a set of 561 castings. All in all you can get out cheap and put about 300-310 to the wheels.
561 castings - 200$
Milling and cleaning - 60$
LT4 valve springs 40$
1.6 RRs - 150$
Head gaskets - 60$
Headers 300$
Catback - 200$
Mail Order Tune - 175$
Cold air induction - 100$
Assuming you can get all this stuff used you are set man. Throw in a little extra ~200$ for fluids, hardware, and shipping. You will make 300rwhp reliable and without sacrificing fuel mileage. Hell you might even get better mileage.

why is it on every site that someone asks for 300hp and all of a sudden 40 people are like you need heads cam blower built bottom end two nitrous kits and you should be right around your goal. last i checked that the corvette lt1 produced 300hp chalked up to the dual exhaust. why on earth would you suggest porting heads, heads or a cam?

I'tgve got the headers going to get a decent cat back exhaust. got the cold air intake. I like yoour way of thinking with the prices and everything. Heads are in the machine shop getting ported I'll see if i can get the springs upgraded before it's time to be put back together. Where would i get the mail order tune? Also would a edelbrock 52 do anything for me or is it a waste for my use of the car.
