One guy here (in the NW) has been running with 400+ rwhp on a factory bottom-end for the past year... through an automatic.

Daily driven and track duty in the summer.

From a durability standpoint, he probably won't get 200,000 miles out of it of course, but that's the price you pay for playing on the wrong side of 6-grand. Personally my stock engine (CAI & air foil) put down 280rwhp through my 6-speed at 100,000 miles. Pushing 170,000 right now without problems. (factory optispark included ).

Oh yeah... almost forgot: that's 400rwhp NA, no boost or juice.

new injectors, heads, cam, PCM tune, of course... but nothing you need to pull the engine out of the engine bay for.

Don't even consider NA power levels like this on a 350 unless you have HUGE heads, a giant cam, and an amazing PCM tune. I belive he runs a 3500 stall.

I just put down 387rwhp with a base tune and 5 degrees of spark retard, and a small cam(~220/226) on stock bottem end through an automatic. With some more tuning it'll be at 400. Stock bottem end has 34k miles on it, gets daily driven 80 miles/day, and just netted me a 12.1 first time down the strip. Call up Lloyd Elliot and get your heads/cam and you'll be at 400rwhp no problem.

450 rwhp with locked converter, 420 unlocked. All motor.
All the standard bolt-ons, hooker LTs, etc... ported factory LT1 heads (1.94/1.50), big hydraulic cam. Not a daily driver, but does drive VERY well on the street.
And that's a bone stock short block.
Steve...

Didn't I read you just had problems with your motor? Or maybe that was someone else.

Yep that was me. A damn spark plug dropped its center electrode down into the #6 cylinder. All that ceramic material does wonders to the cyliner...

I've had 405rwhp on the stock bottom end for over a year now. Heads, big hydraulic cam, 11.9:1 compression and I drive it hard everyday except in the winter. I usually take it up to 6800rpm. Some people are lucky, others loose thier bottom end with just a cam.

Thats impressive numbers for that small of a cam. What kinda head work and headers are you running with that?

How'd you squeeze 11.9:1 out of a stock bottomend?

Lots of milling, I think. I believe his heads had to be re-ported (fixed)

Have your heads milled down to 50.5cc combustion chambers and use thinner headgaskets
