Hw har are headers to install on an LT1, shoties, long tubes and info about clearance

Hey guys I am ordering a set of headers but how hard are shortys vs long tubes to install?

Also will long stbes still give me clearnce to spark plugs which is more practical for tune ups?

Plug access isn't so great on most headers no matter if they are LT or shorties. The install on the headers takes quite a while depending on your experience with cars. You will need to remove quite a few things to get them in. SHorties are usually an easier install since with most LTs you will need to jack the engine up a little bit to fit them in. Clearence won't be to bad with LTs, unless you get SLPs...they tend to dip lower then most.

I spent 40 hrs on 1 3/4 tubes, full length headers including 3" cat back. I would only install coated headers to keep rust issues down - nasty when it falls in your eyes later on doing maintenance.
Start w/ car up on ramps, you'll still have to jack higher.

hey guys, im planning on doing headers on my 94 Z and just wanted to know how much easier it is using a lift? How much time would it roughly shave off as opposed to using jack stands in the driveway? This is also my first time putting headers on an LT1.

Same here, I need to know this as well. What are the tools I will need to make this complete? While I'm installing them though, I'll need to resend my PCM in to get repgrogrammed.

plug clearance is pretty damn good with my jet hot long tubes, i can change them in about 20 minutes verses many many hours with the stock manifolds. they took forever to install and i ended up removing my alt., starter, steering, tranny pan and 1 head bolt on the drivers side. and still had to do some precision fine tuning with a ball peen hammer on the primary on the drivers side that goes near the steering. but my god, that sound was worth it all!!!!
