Hyertech

I've seen 7-10hp on other message boards and you have to run 92 octane since the program advances the timing. I pulled the Hypertech engine program on my 96, since 92 ain't cheap, but kept the shift firmness, gear selection and top speed limit the same.

I've seen magazine tests and posted dyno results that show a loss of HP with the Hypertech "power programming". The only time there is a power gain is if you go with the Hypertech 160* thermostat. You can get much better gains, even on a stock engine, for about 1/3 of what a Hypertech costs, simply by getting a mail-order reprogram from one of out Supporting Vendors, like pcmforless, or madZ28.

i too have seen many cars and trucks come into the local dyno here with hpp tuning and we put them back to a stock program to base line them and they make more hp with the stock tune than the hpp tune, then even more hp when we tune what the engine needs

Yep exactly what everyone else said. I got a Hypertech, don't waste your money if you haven't already bought one. I'm going to go with PCMforless when I do my HC<'s this spring. Ummmm uuuuh anyone out there want to buy a Hypertech programmer????
