opti
Hey I just got my opti ouy . I also have a small amount of play, side to side, movement in the bearing. No in and out movement thou. How the sh** do you get this thing apart? What socket because I know I dont have one for that.
ROD keep updating, cause I'm only like 25 miles from you and I'd like to know if your getting your parts locally, Good luck

Re: opti
I get my parts from Combination motorsports or Jason Cromar... I wouldn't open the opti unless you know its bad. I just took a vise grips to the bolts . The opti costs $195 like I mentioned earlier from Jason and you will need the waterpump gaskets as well as the two O rings for the opti.
I had no intention of "repairing" the opti but I was just extremely curious what was rattling around inside of it.

done
I got it apart and all I found was a really worn out rotor and cap everything else looks like new. I could see a trace of arcing though but i'm sure thats wires or plugs.Do we have to go to dealer only to get new cap and rotor?

Re: done
If your opti died, I would just buy a new one
1995-1997 distributor cap and rotor
ACDelco #D8301 10457293 $106.85
I think what dies in an opti is that black sensor...

My car is still misfireing and the SES light is still on. I changed the plugs and wires and it didn't really help. The shop said its my #3 cylinder. I checked the spark on it and it was a lot weaker then it was on my #1 cylinder. So i'm guessing it is my opti. The car only has 50,000 but i don't know what else it can be. What part actually is the opti? Is it the distributor? Also is the cap and rotor seperate from the opti?

What is Jason's phone #? I"ve got the same problem.
took off the opti and it sounded like a box of bolts when you shake it and scrapes when you turn it.
So you guys think the dowel pin on some of comps
cams are too long. I just installed a xe236/242 about 2 months
ago.
