Smile I proudly present... AI 226/234 video

Well i started it up for the first time last night. Didnt run into any major problems. I havent found anyone running this cam yet, and therefore havent found any video either... so this may be the first?? anyway here are the two vids I took last night.

Initial Startup:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n17ALdaAUQE

Warm idle w/little revs:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mjQjR4sRcM

I was expecting it to be a little wilder, but that being said the engine has the sound of being a "very well matched" combo. I think its gonna run real strong once i get the tune right. It chops real good under 1k RPM but sounds stockish above that.

As a side note... Changing the oil pump spring and deleting the oil cooler definitely did something I have never seen my oil pressure gauge exceed 50 in the past and that was at WOT!!!

enjoy, and consider this thread a huge THANK YOU for all the information and help I have received here! (but im not finished yet )

Sounds good

I used that cam in a friend's motor that I built with stock heads and higher compression. You'll love it, it's a great cam. It drives great and makes exceptional power.

Pretty close, I had his heads milled .010" and used impala head gaskets. I think his is more like 11:1.

His car drives waaay better and is far more tame than my car that has a significantly larger Bauer cam...but mine is quite a bit quicker

Honestly though, if we added a set of ported heads to the car with the AI cam, I think it would likely be just as quick as my car.

Is this still the stock motor? Are a lot of people swapping cams on stock motors and not trashing their motors now? I remember anyone who did a cam swap on a stock motor usually ended up back in here after a few weeks talking about spun bearings, etc.

stock, 90000 mile motor yes.

And that right there is why I put myself through a gruesome 10 hours changing a stupid oil pump spring and deleting the oil cooler. Judging by what the oil pressure gauge is showing, it was worth the extra 2000 swear words.

thanks

I just took the car for a ride. It seems to be running just fine. I didnt go over 2200 rpm yet though. Its def doesnt want to idle and has some buck... but yet seems like a pretty friendly cam. im sure that stuff will be better once tuned. it sounds stock at 2k rpm.

I need to figure out why my radiator fans are running high speed. Could be AIR/EGR removed... i gotta hook up my computer to it again.
