I ve done some search but???(oversize tb)

Ok my brother is planning on buying my christmas gift and he wanted my opinion on the part that he had choose for me.

He want to buy me a 52mm or a 58mm throttle body.

But since my engine is stock and i will maybe never be over 350-375hp max, would i get any kind of gain(hp/tq).

Should i tell him to look for something else?

Ive maid a search but all the thread that i ve found was a little confusing. Some guy thinks that a waste of money and other tell that even with a stock engine there will be some gain...

Thanks a lot

I'd never buy a NEW 52 since you can have a 48 modified to a 52 for much less than a new one. The 48 should flow plenty for your needs. A 58 would be overkill in my opinoin. If he wants to get you something that will help consider some headers or a mail order tune.

There is more restriction in the exhaust than the intake and your CAI with stock intake and stock TB should work fine so looking to the exhaust will help, and a good mail-order tune should give you some increased performance by leaning out the AF.

I'd also consider some 1.6RRs, for that matter, for the cost of a new TB, you probably could up the ratio of you stamped rockers to 1.6 on the exhaust side (along with stonger springs) throw in a tune and pick up some numbers, esp on the top. JMHO

I've heard there are some gains reported, but very little. It would be a more beneficial mod. if you had a heads/cam. combo done to your car. As stated above, a pair of headers, roller rockers, or a mail order tune will give you much more noticable gains for about the same or less money as compared to the throttle body.

Pass on the TB upgrade...another vote for 1.6 RR's with new springs.

if you do get one, don't go w/ bbk, I had a 52mm and it looked like my 1yr old did the casting on it and didn't really ever have any fun programming my truck after that install.

I'd do the above mentioned and go w/ headers / cutouts, roller rockers, ditch the hpp and go w/ a mail order tune, get a cable, do your own programming, etc.
