Installed my 160 thermostat tonight

What temp are you guys running with the 160 thermo? Before I put mine in, my car was running 200-210 at highway speeds, with the stock 180, fully warmed up. After putting my Hypertech 160 in tonight, it runs in the 180-185 range in the same scenario. Just wondering what kind of difference you guys had. Also, did you notice any difference in gas mileage? Take care!

Mine runs 180-185 at speed with the stock 180. I'll put my 160 in a few days and get back to you.

Mine rarely goes over 185 even idle and WOT. Cruising it's around 170*.

You dropped 20°. That would be just about right.

Re: Installed my 160 thermostat tonight

Mine w/ the 160 stayed at about 160 and probably got up to a little under 180. I took it out for the winter because I wanted the car to run warmer. I don't know if they do anything performance wise.

A cooler running engine would have to produce a few more ponies.

Re: Installed my 160 thermostat tonight

mine also dropped about 20 degrees afterwards down to 175 or so highway speed. Its nice because it takes it a lot longer to rise to 210 at idle in traffic now.

Re: Installed my 160 thermostat tonight

You need to get your PCM programmed for the 160 stat so that the fans turn on at the correct time. JMHO

Re: Installed my 160 thermostat tonight

Mine runs mostly at about 170-173 even in warm weather with the A/C on. Ocassionally it gets up to 178-180 after extended idle in traffic. I have had my computer reprogrammed by Ion and I still get between 22-24 MPG. I have an A4 w/ 3.23's.
