the new starter i installed on my 94 z28 , just spins i can't get it to inguage? what could be causing this??

Did you hook up the two wires correctly? Spins, but does not engage the gear?

well the one bolt where the postive cable the big one goes can only go one place. the small one i just put it on the bolt where the nut was set when i took it out of the box.. so you think its on there worng then- yes it just spins

If it only comes on when you turn the key, I would say something is wrong with the solenoid or bendix and you should take it back. The smaller purple wire should go to a terminal marked "S" (if so marked).

hmm guess i will have to check it out again and see if i mixed up the wire spot for the purple. thanks again shoebox
