I just want to make sure this is right i hear a hudge tick tick tick on my intake manafold in the back. would intake manafold leaks sound like exhaust leaks on these lt1 motors and i do no for a fact its a exhaust leak i tightend my header bolts really tight and threy are fine. i just hear it in the back of the intake manafolds do they cause it do that if they leak?

Sounds like an exhaust leak. When the exhaust manifold gasket starts leaking, the hot exhaust gases usually burn the manifold gasket out. With part of the gasket gone, no amount of tightening will seal it back up.

So my question is can a intake manafold leak like a header leak.

All my intake leaks caused oil leaks but no ticking noise. Do you have oil leak?

there is no oil leak at all just a hell of alot of ticking. I just bought some Mid headers and egr block off plates and everything i am going to see if that works. I am taking off my longtube headers because i am having so much problems with them with all the vibrations and stuff i have replaced all my motor mounts and transmission mounts and the damn Long tubes are still banging on my floorboard and Kmember just way to much trouble for these. The ypipe has been cut up and welded like 5 times lol. So i am going with the midlength hooker headers with the ypipe and i will see if that ticking goes away i was just wondering if intake manafold can leak like headers because if so then i was going to take it off when i did my header install and replace the gasket.

Its hard to say without a sound clip, normally you would be able to see evidence of an exhaust leak such as black on the plugs or on the head itself, are your egr ports currently plugged off or do you still have working emmisions? ive heard of leaks from these spots.

What kind of gaskets have you been running?

Yeah all emissions are still on the car i am going to be doing those off road headers this week with all the block off plates i will keep everyone posted. Has anyone had a flowmaster 40 put on there z28 i am curious on how it sounds on z28's i have a 80 series but dont like it, 40 sound much stronger

an intake leak will cause a varying idle, and a rushing air sound, but most important is that it WILL NOT cause a ticking noise like an exhaust leak

I think that egr hose that hooks up to my headers has a hole in it we will find out when i replace my headers i can't wait to get this emissions crap off this car to many problems when i installed the longtubes i was bending that hose and i bet it put a hole in it bending it

Yeah that egr tube was a pita to install back in the headers too. I am so glad i have all the block off plates when i install my new headers. i cant beleave how a leak like that can just kill your car its crazy

yeah when i rev my car up omg it sounds awfull sounds like i have 100 leaks in my car
