jackstands under pads?

jackstands under pads?
Is there any reason why the jackstand cannot go under the pads (beside the sign that says do not jack here, which does not actually pertain to the pad i am talknig about).
Is it safe to jack up the front end 20 inches or so (with chocks on the back tires), put in jackstands, and then jack the back up 15-20inches? Or is it unsafe to jack the back end when the front is already so high?
btw, I always thought those pads were metal, seem very hard for plastic.

Re: jackstands under pads?
why, if it says do not jack, do you think that they are joking?
i dont know first hand, but on my buddies car he tried it and it looks like it bent it upward. and btw, they are plastic if i remember correctly, which is even a better reason to not lift the car off them.
how about the frame rail, like the rest of us?

they are plastic and will crunch.. as far as your jacking.. I do it all the time.. Keep your eye's and ear's peeled for any sound or sudden movement.. i.e jackstand leaning toward's one side etc.. you'll be good..

Re: jackstands under pads?
i wasnt talking about the plastic part where it says do not jack. To the inside and back of that sign is a very strong pad, which looks like metal. Maybe this is the frame rail?

The plastic pads are for setting jacking arms when using a lift (or a floor jack). The "don't jack here" means on the lip of the bottom of the fender (just outside of the pad). I use the plastic pads all the time-it's what they are for.

Re: jackstands under pads?
Shoebox,
Let me get this correct please. I can jack on the waffle looking plastic pieces that are inside the do not jack label?
I have a small Sears jack that i use to change wheels for autocross, and it bent the frame rail. I would like to lay a small piece of 2x4 on top of the jack and safely use the waffle like piece of plastic.
Thanks.

Re: jackstands under pads?
Shoebox is 100% correct - as usual . The only risk of damage from supporting the front end with something under the plastic blocks would be if the stand or jack had cleats or points that would damage the plastic waffle pattern. Those pads are routinely used with frame jacks, but the frame jacks have large, square, flat pads to match.

Re: jackstands under pads?
Yep if your jack has a flat broad pad, or a 2x4 as mentioned you can jack there safely, its when like Injuneer said that you use the small dia padded jacks or jacks with large tanges on the pad that damage occurs.
