I was able to change all the plugs...2 of them needed a but of working to get in...I'd say the TPiS has good clearance...

All long tubes will be somewhat tough to change plugs out of...unless you go with mids or shorties...

It's very recommended you get the heat sleaves. I know I will when I do LTs.

Look at Doug pretending he changed his LTs

I've installed both brands, Jet hots, and TPiS, and the TPis Design was a much easier installation. Spark plug access is better w/ LTs than stock manifolds, you can get most of them from underneath the car with NO problem, and also most from the top real easy. TPiS headers are definitely lighter than Jet Hots, smaller gage steel. TPiS goes in from the top both sides, VERY easy when the engine is jacked up a couple inches. Jet hots - passenger side from the top w/ engine jacked up, driver side from the bottom, might have to bang in the corner of the firewall a tad to get them in, but that wasn't that bad either. Go w/ TPiS if you can get a good deal or have the money. OTherwise jet hots are perfectly fine.

Good luck!

I just got done with my JetHot LT install and I did have to drop the K-member on the driver side. Dropping the K-member isn't bad though. Its only 3 botls on each side. Jack the motor up and drop the driver side completely and just loosen the passenger side and got us what we needed. no biggie at all.

I've been working on my jet-hot lt's for the last week or so, an hour here, an hour there. It's lookin like I'll have to drop the k-member a bit. I've got all the old stuff off, and gettin that driver side in is a biatch!!! So close, but just not there. I've got the motor jacked up to the cowl and it still just wont go. I was thinking about bashing the firewall in a little in the corner, but I think I'll try the k-member first. I just wanted to chime in and say how much I'm not enjoying the install.

I installed Hooker Jet Hot LTs by myself it wasn,t easy and I had my tranny out for a rebuild.
It is well worth the time and effort to do.
Just make sure you have the right tools and do all your relocating while the manifolds are out and before you put the headers in.
Plug clearance is excellent and they look cool under the hood.

How do you like your TPIS headers. I thought about getting those, but decided to go with PPC's LT1 headers when they come out in spring. They cost a couple hundred dollars more than the TPIS headers, but are spouse to be well worth it. I've heard that there based on the grotty style header and offer the best performance and best ground clearance. I'm mostly concerned about the ground clearance because my car is lowered with Eibach prokit and I don't want a car I have to worry about scraping all the time.

Just as a FYI: Hookers are 18ga, Jet Hot's are 16ga and TPiS LT's are 14ga.

TPiS headers are supposedly lighter because of the type of steel they use, not because of the gauge.

What are the right tools besides the basic ones?

Extensions and swivel sockets are GREAT. Also a stubby wrench is definitely helpful tightening the farthest back header bolts under the cowl. That is the worst part of the install IMO.

About the best tool for me was a 3/8 box end wrench that had the round end ground so the wall was thin enough to get on the header bolts next to the primaries.
