Just got my MadZ28 tune today..
Well I finally splurged and got the OBD1 conversion for my car. As far as the options go, I for the power tune, knock retard desensitizing, disabled EGR/AIR, the cooling fans adjusted to 205/215*, and hopefully tuning for my midlength headers. I have a couple of questions:
1. How long does it take the computer to "learn" the car? I have to say I am not too pleased with the power gain, or even lost with the tuning. Definitly does not feel as strong as it was with the stock OBD2 computer. I put in my LT4 KM in and I am getting zero knock retard at WOT and I also did fresh NGK TR55 plugs and Delco O2's last week. Wires are about a year and a half old and in great condition still.
2. Should I of got the tuning for a 160* thermostat? I have the stocker in right now but I also have a 160 sitting in my room. I just hate putting the colder thermostat in because I used to get not very good gas mileage with it in (I gained 5 MPG highway when I put my stock thermostat back in). I'm just worried that if my mileage goes back down, that I will be stuck with it.
Driving down the highway today I noticed my long term BLM's are in the low 1-teens. From what I read, this means that the computer is taking away fuel from the even 128 reading. What could be causing this? No exhaust leaks that I can detect. Funny thing is my short term BLM's are right at 128, though fluxuating between about 126-129. I know that these numbers are changing very fast and can not accurately be read, but why such a difference between the long term and short term?

Your OBDII was factory tuning and now your swapping to OBDI with a performance tune? Just making sure everyone knows whats goin on.

I actually lost 7 rwhp with my obd1 conversion from madz28 over my pcmforless tune. I even added a tb bypass and an airfoil before I dyno'd. I don't see why you even expected a power gain. You really don't have any mods that warrant tuning. I only converted to obd1 so that I would be able to tune the car in the future. I took the obd1 madz28 tune out and have been running my obd11 tune for the last year. Be happy with the other little changes that he made and don't worry about a power gain.

When I got my MadZ28 tune I definately felt a gain. Not a bull**** gain like from a airfoil or 1LE elbow, but a true step up in performance. Most of what I noticed was at full throttle runs, driving around town it seemed about the same.
I'm sure Ion will reply with opinion, information, and assistance of some kind. Either way I wouldnt always trust the butt-o-jet, it will sometimes tell you lies.
