K&n Cai
I was on K&N website thinking of geting a CAI and it said " not for ram air or traction control vehicles"..wth does traction control have to do with air intake? Traction control system in the way or something?

Re: K&n Cai
I know someone that has a SLP style (dual tubes and dual filters) that works around his trction control. I'm sure there are others which make provisions for working around the traction control stuff. Someone with TCS will chime in!

Re: K&n Cai
I don't know how the TCS will interfere with the cold air induction kit?? My TCS is mounted towards the end of the intake manifold on the drivers side and that is obviously a good foot or so away from the air induction assembly. I have the Moroso kit by the way and its design is very similar to the K&N kit, so I'm still not sure how it would interfere.

Re: K&n Cai
Personally I would stay away from thw K&N set up. I had one on my last LT1 Camaro and the at the bottom where the filter mounts the plastic became brittle and broke off. Others have had good luck with them, but for my money I'd go for the Moroso. They are similiar in design, cheaper and the plastic seems to be alot softer.

Re: K&n Cai
I had a K&N before going to Ram Air and never had a problem with it (in fact, I sold it to a board member after I took it off). I would recommend going with a Moroso over the K&N simply for cost. I have seen a Moroso and it was nearly identical to the K&N for less money. There was also a thread on here not long ago with another brand which looked very similiar to the Moroso and K&N for a very reasonable price (cheaper ). IMO, there's not much you can change between all the brands to make one offer more power gains than any other. A cold air kit is one of the first things to do to any of these cars for HP gains .

Re: K&n Cai
I put an K&N CAI on my '97,and had to detach the TCS module and set it to the side. No big deal. I can't remember what, if anything, I did to keep it from moving around down there.
But 30k miles later, no issues. And the TCS works, bless it's heart. If I don't disable it the system yanks timing, grabs the wheels, and closes the throttle every time I downshift into 3rd and let it rip at 60 or so. Did it just last week. But even with the hesitation that poor kid in the RSX never knew what hit him.

It may not be the right system for you, though, as it is aluminized steel and not stainless. If they salt your roads it might not last indefinently as it will for me down here in Sunny Florida. CAI came a month or two later. I noticed seat of the pants gains on both.
Great mods, quick simple installs, and cheap too.
