The way I figure, the LT1 is always going to be one step behind the LS1. Full bolt on LT1 will be about equal to stock LS1. Full bolt on LS1 = Cam+Bolt on LT1. Cammed LS1= Head+Cam+Bolt on LS1. And so on. The LS1 has the most potential, but with the money you save going with the LT1 you can make it much faster than a stock LS1. Just depends on $$.

I have a cam + bolt on LT1 w/ only 350rwhp and I can keep up and usually beat 400rwhp cars. My secret? TRACTION. Last year I was at the strip running against an 01 SS heads, cam, bolt ons, and 150hp shot. He ran 12.23@122mph to my 12.05@113mph. I have raced him on the highway from a roll and it wasn't even funny how bad he dusted me.

I would think anyone who put that much money and effort into thier car to take it from a 106 stock trap all the way to 122 would have put a few bucks in tires, suspension and driving lessons if needed
Nice ET BTW. Looks like traction is not a problem for your car.

After that the skys the limit. a decent Heads/cam package and or N20 will put you heads and shoulders above stock or lightly modded LS1's. But why even concern yourself with LS1's anyway? Make your car fast for the fun of getting faster. And maybe for raping riceboy imports even worse then you all ready do

I have raced Stock LS1's and I have always beat them till 70-80 mph. Once I go from 2nd to 3rd, I fall back.

LS1's Ive raced
- 1998 Z28 (wooped him) I dont think he knew what was going on.
- 2000 Z28 with K&N air filter, and hurst 6-speed took him till 70 mph, then he pulled a car length ahead of me, and thats as far as he got ahead of me.
-2001 Z28 Conv. with a A4. OMG HAHA Nuf said.
-2002 35th Anniversary SS With Kooks headers, GMMG exhaust, cam, bigger throttle body, nitto drag radials, and some other stuff im not sure of . YA I pretty much got my **** handed to me. This was my brothers car until he had to get rid of it cause he was getting married and was broke.

Why is it that no one ever asks the question: "What will it take to keep up with a vehicle which, in stock configuration, has about 50 RWHP more and weighs less?
Answer: A vehicle that has the same or more RWHP and similar weight ratio.
What if that "stock" vehicle adds another 50 RWHP: what would it take to keep up with it then?
Answer: Another 50 RWHP.
Assuming that the vehicles are identical in other ways.

I've beat three ls1's, all of which were autos and stock (two 98's and one 99). Put about 3-4 cars on all of them at the end of the quarter. I only have headers, cat back, intake, clutch, tune, and a few other little things. I left them on take off and they never caught up.

When I had an intake, headers, off road pipe and Flowmaster exhaust I ran a 99 Z/28 auto with the 3.23 gears. It was bone stock down to the paper filter. The car belonged to my buddies mom, so it hadn't been ragged out, and had been serviced by the dealer. We decided to line them up one night. It was fairly even through first, I pulled a couple of feet in second then I walked off on him in third. Since the trannies and gear ratios were identical it gave me a good idea of what was going on. However, those six speeds can be mean on the interstate, so if you have an auto and are racing a six speed watch out as the speeds increase.

Yeah I love just putting them ricer cars to shame. My daily car is a 69 gto(just until I finish parting out my other Z and buy another one ). I love watchin those ricers faces as they are all downshifting and I just put the pedal to the floor in my 3 speed auto and leave em behind. But I will never make the mistake of linin up to another LT1/LS1 in that goat again. They just put me to shame.
