Keyed Crank Hub

Hi guys. My 396 is almost ready to go into the car but the keyed crank hub I ordered from Thunder Racing is still on back order. Is there any other place other than Golen or Thunder I can buy a keyed crank hub from? This is the last piece I need. Any help would be very helpful. Thanks

I just took mine to a reputable engine builder and they did it at the machine shop. For like $25.

Aww son of a mustang....I just ordered that same Key'd hub...I didn't realize it was on back-order until I saw this post.

How long have you been waiting for yours? The email they sent me said "shouldn't be longer than a week to get them in"...but my engine is at the machine shop...I'll be needing this hub in 2weeks.

haha...yeah no crap...Well, I tried calling Thunder today and nobody answered. I'll try again tomorrow. If you end up sourcing a key'd hub for under $100 please shoot me a link or post about it. (albeit I need a 94...I noticed your's is a 97).

I'm trying to avoid the frustration of "motor done...can't start because I have no hub"

Jeg's has a very nice keyed LT hub (their brand) which is much better than the GM OEM. Also a Jeg's dampner w/ an underdrive option.

Call ATI directly. I made the mistake of going thru one of the above mentioned vendors and received the incorrect part, wanted to exchange it for a dual-keyway hub and they acted as if they didn't know what I was talking about. When I called ATI, they were very helpful.

The Jeg's unit (hub and dampner) was both high quality and a good price. And it is SFI approved.

I am at this point with my 383. Didn't realize I needed a keyed hub. Is this really necessary? I kinda doubt the hub will slip, but even if it does, what is that going to cause?

Do you guys have the part number for the jegs hub? Can it be used with the stock damper? If not, is their damper set up for an internally balanced engine?

Thanks!

Yeah I tried asp but can't seem to find it on their site. I have the ATI balancer so I will give them a call and see what they can do. I don't wanna put my stock one back on and then have to take everything back off to put the keyed one on.

I had to call asp to get a price on mine, but if you have the ati balancer i dont think the one from asp will work. Jegs sells just the hub for the ati balancer. I bought one from them but it wouldn't work with my stock balancer. I just sent it back to them last week. I cant remember the part # but its around $106.
