Kill me now. klunk sound when i let off gas.
Please help me before I shoot myself and my LT1.
Have any of you ever experianced under very low speeds in a parking lot, when you just let off the gas at around 5-10 km/h you get this annoying klunk sound. I had it in my 96 t/a and now in my 97. So after my 3000 highstall, transgo shiftkit and POLY TRANS MOUNT, it has become 10 times more noticeable and now its at all speeds.
I'll be cruising at 50/60km holding rpm when I let off and klunk/bonk. What the hell is it. When i first had it I thought maybe it was a bad tranny mount so i went with the poly, but because its a harder bushing could this explain the increase in sound. I thought it was the exhaust hitting the tranny brace or frame when i let off, but it doesn't come close enough.
BY the way I've got Jet hot LT's and a custom y-pipe with no cats. Other thoughts of mine is the driveshaft. Please help me.

Re: Kill me now. klunk sound when i let off gas.
Mine used to do that about 5 years ago with the automatic, it just stopped and I don't know why....odd.
It was like when I was rolling in 1st gear and when shifted to second it made a God awefull noise. Only on occasion though.
We could be talking about completely different noises though.

I'm another one that gets a clunk when it downshifts or accelerate at certain speeds from a slow start. I made sure all my suspension was tight and bolted. I'm guessing it's driveline slack cuz that's what it feels like. I know what a broken mount feels like and the feel of something hitting, this is not the case.
How can we rule this out?
I have new u-joints, new tranny mount, spohn t/a, spohn rca's, pcm tuned for firms shifts, greased bushings....
anyone else have similiar mods that noticed this clunk. Seems to have started after my firm shift and suspension components that I added. Alot of people have this clunky and I'm curious to why we have it and if it's hurting anything.

Hmmmmmm.....I've heard some sort of sound with mine, and I was wondering if your sound gets faster as you pick up speed, and go slower as you decrease speed? Or is it just one *clunk* when you decelerate?

Re: Kill me now. klunk sound when i let off gas.
Yeah that stupid clunk. always at really low speed, seems when the tranny makes a shift.. I've had it for a long time now, nooo clue where its coming from, other than it sounds like its coming from the rear, its not my tranny mount. I think its either my u joints, torque arm, control arm or drivetrain slack. I really dont know, I have my share of small issues to fix.
