Knock retard horsepower equivalent?

Im wondering how much power (roughly) does 3 degree of knock retard do to an engine. I am just curious what 3.3 degrees of knock retard is doing to my horsepower...

dunno...I figured around 3 or 4hp per degree. Diffeence on a dyno betwen 36 and 39 degrees advance on a dyno could very well be 12hp... but it depends on the engine and if it can use the extra advance. It would probably be better expressed as a percentage rather than a hard number...

Not what I was expecting to hear... I thought it would be a lot more than that.

well i can tell you a 10 degree drop is a difference you can actually feel... youd never feel 3 degrees. and at the track im sure your car would run pretty much the same if you take out the inconsistent driver factor.

1 degree could be 2-3 RWHP. I dealt with knock so much that I could tell when my car was getting 3-4 degrees for a longer period of time (at least 5-6 seconds). Verified while someone else was looking at the laptop!

what did you do to correct the knock?

Based on experience with more than just a few cars, the LT4 KM doesn't really help a whole lot. My car used to get up to 12 degrees at times. I installed the LT4 KM and then it maxed out at 10. Better, but not sufficient.
So I just desensitized it through programming and it ran much better since.

Just check to see if it is false knock or real knock before you desensitize the sensor or reduce the degrees of knock retard.

Just an observation here. Sounds like Madwolf took care of the problem with programming. If that is the case, it APPEARS to have been false knock. In that case, Madwolf did not cure the cause of the false knock. In his defense, depending on the bolt on add ons (headers for instance?), the false knock may be an unwanted but included extra with the bolt ons, making the cure of lesser importance.

Actually,to my surprise, the LT4 KM helped a TON! I was seeing 20* of retard! It was about 12* at WOT and now I'm seeing 33* after just the LT4 KM. That is a tremendous amount of power that I was never seeing.

I set a cap on my knock retard at 7/5 degrees depending on MAP pressure and RPM. I could just set them all to 0 but I would fear real knock ruining my engine. I can't hear or have never heard any real knock but I want my engine to last.
