Knocking in the morning

Every morning when I start up the car, it will knock for about 10 seconds then go away. I have a 96 Z. Is the oil too thick? Im using 10w-40, or does that mean its time for an oil change? Any ideas, thanks.

10 seconds, mine will knock when I rev it for like 5 minutes. Comes with the LT1 territory. Is this a recent problem?

Cold weather brings out the best in the Z28. Lots of weird noises and .3 seconds off your 1/4 mile....

I'm not questioning weither it has or has not, but that is too thick for near freezing temps.
