le2 heads, scat forged 383 with srp pistons...which cam?
alright...i've got a sweet deal from brent95ta on a set of le2 heads, and i'm going to get a forged scat 383 kit with srp pistons running around 10:1 compression...and i'm thinking the gm847 cam...but i'm not sure
i dont want anything 'lopey' or rough, and it's a 6-speed with 373 gears. lt4 clutch, full length headers with borla to back it up...i'd like to get around 400hp and still be somewhat fuel efficient. i'd like to keep it above 20mpg and i'd like to see higher as it's mostly a highway car (and yes, it's a daily driver). i had a cc306 cam in my auto car with 3.23 gears and i didnt like it. it was too weak, but i did really well maintaining my 22-24mpg ratings.
any way, any suggestions would be nice. i liked the 'stock sound' of the 306, but it just wasnt enough. thanks

I don't know if you saw my post a few days ago, but I'd advise making sure those heads are legit. Not only that, make sure they are good quality heads in general. Are you going to be doing all the work yourself? If not, you may actually be better off getting a very cheap pair of stock heads or use your old ones and have everything flowed together and get the best bang for your buck. Building a reliable 383 is going to be a little pricey anyways, might as well make sure you get the best stuff for your money, even if it means spending a little more.

I'm telling you man, look around and do your homework. Just because you get a good deal on some heads, doesn't mean you should take them. I learned it the hard way. You want to build a 383 thats going to be fast and reliable, and that's going to come with a price. Call around, look for real dyno sheets and preferably get new stuff rather than used.
