Length of oil dipstick?
Well got my car back from the sitting at the shop to fix the AC and so they could fix a oil leak after heads/cam swap...anyway, the dip stick end is broke off...hopefully its in a safe place at the bottom of the freakin pan...but
Need to know how long the '95 LT1 dip stick is, is has part# 122551144 stamp on it and its broke off right bewteen the 1 and 2 of the part# stamp on it.
Whats the total length not including the yellow handle?
Or the length from the tip to the "1" first number of the part# stamped on it?
Appearently the LT4 and the Lt1 dip sticks are not the same, my LT4 has# 1223510 stamped on it and seems much shorter.

Re: Length of oil dipstick?
had the same thing happen last year. used a strong magnet on the outside of the oil pan to get the piece near the drain hole them stuck a small magnet inside to grab it. thankfully the piece matched up exactly to where it broke off so I wasn't concerned with alot of pieces floating around. finally got a new stick a coule weeks ago and found that depending on which way I put it in it will sometime hit something on the bottom end.

Re: Length of oil dipstick?
ok, mine is now 19.25"...about 6" of it must be in the bottom of the pan..
So, if it broke off ..is it a straight shot down to the bottom of the pan or is there a good chance it got hung up in the baffling...I've never had the pan off my LT1 or LT4 so I'm not sure what type of baffling is in the bottom under the dip stick....and I guess it depends on how it got sheared off..it has a slight bend at the end where its broke..maybe got in the way of a counter weight on the crank...I know the tube had been trimmed to get it back in so it was not the full length....maybe that was the cause.
