Let's talk cams....
I'm such a freaking *****. I just bought my header install parts tonight and I'm already thinking about cammin' it.
I'm looking for something that'll give a pretty nice lopey idle... It needs to be streetable, and daily drivable. I'm almost thinking hotcam, but it's kinda overdone. I'm looking at more of a 224/230 cam I think.
It'll be going in a '97 Z28 M6. The mods at the time of installation will include:
Hooker LTs, ORY, Hooker Catback, K&N FIPK, 3.73s. The car will probably be pretty close to 120k when I do the cam swap, and I'm not looking to spin a rod. I won't be beating on the car too much but I plan on taking it to the track a time or two.

Not likely, if he does it right and keeps it a clean install and doesn't let any crap get in the engine. But then again you never know, "some" have had their problems after a cam install. The Hotcam is nice for the money. And there are a few others in that range that preform well too. But just don't expect alot of lope if it's tuned right and the idle is where it should be. It helps to keep the idle down a little if some lope is what your looking for, but you can only go so far.

The CC305 has a very good lopey idle, and has good street manners.
Check out this link. It has a TON of cam sounds in LT1's. Everything ranging from mild to wild.

Sorry to hear that. Mine spins to 6400 also with 29k on the stock shortblock. No problems so far, but only I have about 1k on this set-up. As far as being ready to rebuild if something goes wrong, that goes without saying. Even your DD can drop the trans without warning and cost you $1500, give or take $500. But like I said, just cause you mod doesn't mean it's going to take a crap in 1k. It could be on start up or 80k later, who knows?
