Lifter "cushion" travel Question + Rocker Squeek

Hi All, troubleshooting a squeak/tick sound and have found a squeaky rocker. I want to make sure I troubleshoot the root cause of the issue and not just replace the rocker waiting for a bigger problem to come at me..

Q1: How much travel should there be when pushing down on a pushrod against a lifter, and how hard should it be to depress by hand?
Is it a barely noticeable amount or should it be pretty easy to feel some give? For the 1 valve I'm troubleshooting it doesn't seem to be moving at all (but I've never pushed against a lifter so am not sure what "normal" is). I'm wanting to know if I can tell if the lifter is bad by feeling against it with the pushrod by hand.

Q2: My rocker started squeaking from the pivot point. I'm wondering how rare or common this failure is and if I should be hunting for a more major issue vs just throwing a new rocker in.

For some context here is my Main Thread - troubleshooting an engine sound and have made some progress: https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/gen...-minor-888875/

Thx in advance!
