they are about the same. i have K&N because i paid 50 bucks for it...minus filter...but i already had a filter.
if you really want the highest performance go with the SLP unit. it's opening is larger by about 1/4" and has 2 2.5" id inlets. if you can find one...expect to pay about 150 bucks, chromed or painted.
