You'll obviously need to purchase the O2 bungs but that's about it

Here is the most common location for the O2 bung.

They point towards the center of the car.

How about putting the O2 bungs in the off road pipe? Then you wouldn't have to mess up those pretty headers.

For best readings, you want the O2 sensor as near to the collector (in) as possible. While it often works "ok" with the O2 sensors in the y-pipe, some have reported problems with a setup like this.

Hmmm, that would work. thats a better idea. I noticed on tbyrne motorsports in the exhaust section that the mufflex ypipe for 249.00 comes with 02 fittings. Then they list it seperately and say it doesn't come with 02 fittings. which one s it?

Well, I have the Mufflex y-pipe and purposely drilled holes and installed O2 bungs in my headers. I now have spark plugs in my Mufflex y-pipe until I "redo" things and put an actual plug in there

Beware the potential fit problems of the Mufflex Y-pipe. You might do a quick search before deciding to go with one. I have one on my JetHot LT's with the O2 fittings. I didn't use them because my LT's also had them in the collectors. As Brent said, you don't want to get the O2 sensors too far back but with the Mufflex they will only be maybe six inches further back than if you put them in the collectors. I would suggest a custom y-pipe with O2 bungs placed as far forward (up-stream) in the y-pipe as possible.

Brent, a spark plug fit in there? Cool. That definitely brings up some ideas

I found some oil drain plugs that fit the O2 bungs. Worked out well and is nearly flush on the inside of the pipe.

The larger style spark plugs fit perfectly

Yeah, that was over a year ago... it was late and we were finishing up a dual header remove/install and the only place still open was Wal-Mart. My intention all along was to go get the proper plug and remove the spark plug. Sigh... intentions are always good but....
