Looking for aftermarket exhuast - quiet?

I have a 94 camaro z28 m6. Have shorty headers, going into a offroad pipe going into the slp loudmouth. It is very very loud. I like it and all. But next summer when I go force induction I want to be able just to hear the supercharger or turbo. I was wondering what exhuast will make my car quiet very quiet. I plan to put a cutout on it - for when I want it loud. Any recommendations. Is there any exhuast system that will give me awesome power but quiet down my headers and off road pipe Like when it was stock??

I have corsa. It is loud at wot. It is specifically designed to be quieter at cruising speeds. So for regular driving, it gives a deep low sound thats noticable but not loud. At wot, it sounds amazing.

i really like the Hooker catback with the aero chamber for our model of single cat LT1's. its not very loud at all, it wil scream when you get on it, but just revving it up and all you wont attract the sound police. i have heard a good custom Mufflex 4x9 setup to, on a friedns ls1.

And then there is the ever popular adjustable Borla.

Really mess up the people you race and throw a stocker Z28 on there. Or really really mess them up and throw on the V6 one and lose those badges. I would love to see those results.

Although they dont work the opposite way that well, I saw a V6 today with z28 badges. At least he didnt have to guess if mine were fake.

You could always stick the stock exhaust back on if you're planning to use a cut-out... My Hooker is quiet, when I want it to be... The idle is a little more "burbly" than stock... Cruising at a steady speed is quiet... But it gets louder as the rpms go up.. Definately louder than stock 1/3 throttle and up.. But not obnoxious.

SLP Dual/Dual is about the quietest out there short of stock, and it's supposed to make very good power.

Yeah thats basically what I want something that is quiet or quieter then the stock exhuast. Slp dual/dual sounds good. Since I have headers with no cats it still might be a little loud. I just want to be able to hear my supercharger/turbocharger when I get one very very good. Cutout exhuast should be good for when I want to make some noise. I have the lodumouth right no threw no cats and it actaullys hurts my ear after a while - I cannot even listen to the radio unless it's on all the way - I had my fun with it. I'm going to sell cheap in the spring time. - Mike

Even my 4" system with Spintech muffler still left the blower sounding really loud. Dual/Dual is really your best option so that you don't clog up your blower too much when the cutout is closed. Blower/Nitrous cars tend to like exhaust.

Re: Looking for aftermarket exhuast - quiet?

The Hooker cat-back I just took off of my '95 Z28 sounded about the same as the stock muffler at idle and below 2000rpms...Then it developed a nice muscle car tone all the way to redline that was NOT loud at all...Of course this was on an otherwise stock LT1...However, the Aerochamber muffler still retains it's quietness/steathiness even with headers and no cats while idling or just cruising around...It's not until you really get on it that it will start to roar...Not to mention it's super cheap with great flow...

And like the other guys said, the quietest aftermarket cat-back system you could get that would still flow fairly well would be the SLP dual/dual...That thing sounds STOCK IMO...

Re: Looking for aftermarket exhuast - quiet?

I have a 94' Z28 Camaro and I just installed Hooker shorty headers and the Hooker cat-back exhaust and gutted my cat and it is LOUD!!! I mean it is almost as loud as the lod mouth. I had a Magna Flow Catback on it before and it was really quiet and flowed extremely well! Good Luck dude!
