Loud Clunking after doing clutch/headers
ok, well i'm pretty sure its the clutch but i did do headers at the same time so lets not rule it out. well when i was trying to find reverse again i kept putting it in 5th or 6th and letting the clutch out and it would make like a sorta clunking clinking noise. it was really loud i thought it might have been my headers back firing because i was throughing P0300(miisfiring cyclingers) which was making it run kinda like crap but i wanted to see if i did my clutch right. Well when i finally found reverse i put it in reverse to go down my drive way no clunking then. went to put it in first for the first time no clucking. Drove about 100yrds no clunking. i stopped, put it in first, started to let the clutch out and go and the clunking began. Drove it back to my house and everytime i put it in first it clunked. i pretty much coasted it the whole way in nutraul and no clunking.
this is the stuff i did.
mcleod clutch and pp
94-95 mac headers with OR pipe
resurfaced flywheel
ovc spark plug wires
pcmforless prog
car:97 SS M6

when you press the gas the motor moves around a little. with the motor the headers move too. The headers are prob hitting your k-frame (thing that holds the motor up) causing that noise. it is very common after a header install for this to happen. look for a mark or scrape on the headers. either try to adjust your headers to clear the k-frame or get polyurathane motor mounts. the motor mounts will make the motor move around less.
