low oil sensor light, rig up.. will this work?
i want to put a light for low oil pressure, just got the the engine together on the stand, so now is the time to do this...what i want to do is....
buy a oil pressure sending unit for a gm vehicle. for like minimum,,ex: 10 psi
" T " it off with my factory one, and run seperate wires, (power and ground) to a small light inside..so i'll still have all the stock oil pressure sensor, but i will have a seperate mounted light inside when it gets below a certain psi..
reason is cuz i just built an engine and don't want to have to worry bout looking at my oil pressure gauge while racing,,,if the light comes on shut her down!
will this work? just going to " T " another sending unit off my other one with a T adapter to screw in behind the intake...where the stock one is.

You don't even have to "T" off the stock pressure sending unit location. There is a small pipe plug in the block right above the oil filter that can be used for oil pressure. All you need is a pressure switch to screw into the hole. You can get adjustable "generic" switches for that purpose. Check AutoMeter, or anyone that sells "Hobbs" switches.
Shoebox has the location in a photo on his Tech Pages. I have my mechanical oil pressure gauge connected at that location.
