low volts AGAIN!!

i just put in a new reman. 140amp alternator mast week with a new belt. all was fine for a few days then the squelling started and the low volts again.the squeeling definitely sounds like its comming from the alternator. my volts are fine between the 2 lines they are supposed to be than after 10 minutes of driving they go almost to the red. i had to get a jump start to get it running today. i figure with a 140 qmp the volts should be way up there......im totally lost and dont have a volt meter untill tomorrow. i really dont want to go messing with the alternator and re routing the belt if its not necessary. could it be the battery?? i also have a ses light that comes and goes and when it lights up the volts dip way low. and sometimes the volt gauge will bounce around.
im totally lost any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: low volts AGAIN!!

Why would you need to reroute the belt? Take the battery and alt to have them tested or take the car to a shop to have the electrical system diagnosed. A bad battery could cause too much load for an alt or maybe you just got a bad reman one.

You can't. It won't work. The pulley has to be there because of the way the belt routes. Anyway, how are you going to keep things charged without an alternator?
