lower radiator hose

hey everybody just wanted to ask this,it might sound stupid, but any help or info is appreciated, everything was perfect on my car, running wise, cooling etc. my lower radiator came off after i dropped off my wife to work, when i got home.but what i didnt understand was that why didnt the hose come off when i was driving her on the way there, and before i been driving the car i never had any hoses come off, so after the hose came off i waited for the car to get cold, when it cooled off i attached the hose back on i tighten the clamp till it squeezed to the hose, put coolant in and opened the bleeder screws to burp the air out. then i ran the car at running temp like the middle of the gauge, i turned off the car then in a few minutes ka poosh the hose came off again. now can anyone explain this, how are everyone elses 93-97 LT1 camaros lower radiator hose doing

Re: lower radiator hose

I agree, that the hose likely needs to be replaced. If it's sliding off, even after being tightened down, the hose is no good. You should be able to tell that by looking at it when it's off (inside and out).

Re: lower radiator hose

Check the radiator cap. May not be holding the pressure down to the specified 18psi.

im having the problem of it sliding off the radiator,i havent checked in in like a couple months but yesterday i checked it and it wasnt as bad as i thot,it was about less than a half an inch from the stem,so basically id like to see pics of how the lower radiator hose attached.

Re: lower radiator hose

Check to make sure the plastic nipple on the radiator isn't cracked. If it is, tightening down the clamp will just spread the plastic, leak, and it won't hold.

You really shouldn't need a picture. It's just a hose nipple and a spring clamp.

Re: lower radiator hose

Worm clamps work great when not overtightened. Both types should work just fine.
