ls1 air lid conversion? intake coupler size?
I'm getting silicone couplers for my ls1 airlid conversion. What size do I need from the maf to tb and maf to lid. Or should I put the maf at the end of the lid and use a longer silicone coupler from maf to tb. When I refer to size I mean the openings and length

I just went to lowes/homedepot and picked up a 3" fernco sewer pipe coupler to attach my LS1 lid and MAF. I had to cut it down in length and also had to soak the coupler in boiling water and fit it over the throttle body since its ovaled. Just do a search on here for (fernco 3x3 abs coupler) alot of WS6 ram air guys used these for there setups and only cost $6-$7. Mine has been on the car for 5 years and its still perfect and its a nice looking and working setup.

Also, on my LS1 lid conversion I didnt like how the MAF slid into the Lid opening so I cut a 1 1/2" piece of that coupler and used it to help the lid bite down on the MAF. The lid had a metal band clamp that tightened down on the MAF, that is what I took off and just used part of the coupler to hold it togethor if that makes sense LOL. Been probably 6 months since I even messed with it so Im going off the top of my head.

im a little confused, do u have 2 pieces of the coupler, for example a coupler on either end of maf, one going to the motor and one going to the maf. went to home depot and saw the fernco's but ust didnt like the way it looked. i found a website called racepartsolutions.com, they have actually silicone hoses for like turbo piping and stuff. so what is the diameter to go over the throttle body? what is also the diameter of the maf and lid opening?

I used 1 fernco and cut it to fit the length from the TB to MAF, then the shorter part I cut off I used it to go from MAF to LID. The lid has a band clamp on it that I took off and just slipped the extra piece of rubber over that to make it a little more secured to the MAF. Im 90% sure the Inlet and outlet on the MAF is 3" and you will have to strech the Silicone 3" coupler over the TB since its ovaled.

Here's mine: I also have an ls1 front end conversion: For the couplers I used (2) fernco 3"x3" fittings. I cut one in half for the lid to maf, and for the maf to tb I strected it around the oval shapped opening. You will not be able to get away with just one like the ls1 because it will not be long enough.
For anyone else thinking of doing this, avoid Lowe's American Valve brand plastic coupler - it will warp after a day, put a damper on the air flow and its a little pricier than the Fernco:

Also, when I did my lid conversion, I only used one(1) rubber coupler, a slightly "cut down" 3" Fernco. And, (as you asked above), yes, I placed my MAF sensor directly in the lid itself.
P.S. The Fernco 3" coupler sells for $6.49 +Tax at Home Depot.
Hope this info helps?

The Fernco 1056-33 fits over the throttle body easier if you heat it first in a pan of hot water.
Also looks a bit better if you orient the two included stainless steel clamps with the slits and screws on the bottom.
