It is possible but from what i hear it is very expensive. Dont quote me but i hear that the engine compartment has to be modified. Did you buy the computer with it or does it come with it.

Nothing crazy has to be modded. I think the wiring is the hardest part. A guy here has an Ls1 in a 95 firebird. Did all the work himself. You will need a different hood though. He has a ram air hood, and it cleared fine.

you say you got a good deal on the LS1 IMO sell it and build the LT1 Dont get me wrong I like LS1 motos but for less work and time I think you can have a faster meaner sounding car. IE heads cam all bolt on's and a shot of juice to boot.

unless that ls1 is a 2002 i 4th that

youll need new motor mounts or a new k member all together. if you got the computer and harness then it may be just plug and play, not sure if the interior harness will plug into the ls1 cpus. youll need new headers, hood for clearance, i dont know what else. unless youve done swaps before its gonna be a hassle. all ls1s from 98 to early 01 are oil burners due to bad piston ring design, they vary slightly year to year, unless your gonna mod it i say sell it but it is do-able.

Wait, so you're telling him to take the motor that he got cheap that makes a lot more power, sell it and buy a motor that doesn't make as much power, and build it? It doesn't make sense. You can tune both, though I don't think tunercat is out for LS1s yet. The clutches are immensley better (and cheaper) for the LS1, its not that lame pull type. The majority of LS1s will make around 280 - 300 RWHP with no mods. You will NOT see that from an LT1 without at least headers. For the money, I'd put the LS1 in it, put a 150 dry kit on it and run 11s @ 120+. Too many people here in town doing it to be a fluke. The guy with the firebird I mentioned before just got ported heads, no cam, no headers, and his car picked up 5 mph in the 1/8th. You MIGHT see that on an LT1 with a good set of longtubes. Not too many stock manifold LT1s trapping 90+ with an auto/stock stall, open diff., in a full weight car. Just my .02. Don't get me wrong. I've got an LT1 and love waxing LS1s, surprises the hell out of them. Would I rather have the better motor? Sure would, but I'm gonna live with what I've got. So should he.

No I am not suggestings he get a new motor.Just build the LT1 in the car now. With heads and cam bolt on's.for the price of parts for LS1's I think for less money and less work he can have a faster car. He could probally sell the motor trans and wiring harness for 4-5k easy I would think but I dont sell LS1 motors so I am not sure.

How does that not make sense?

Say he makes a $1500 profit off selling the LS1...spend that on some bolt-ons, a cam, N2O kit and make 425-450rwhp (or more). A stock LS1 is probably only going to put out about 300-320rwhp. And don't forget that he's going to have to spend who-knows-how-much on just getting the LS1 in his car (and running).

The only question/problem is: Is he going to be able to find somebody to buy the LS1?

Edit: Funina read that better than I did...I don't think anybody was saying that he should go out and buy another LT1. Just build the one he already has.
