Mine is a M-6 with 4.10s (Black). Red is a great color for a sports car, in my opinon, but I believe that black (even though its a bitch to keep clean compared to red) is a color that you dont get tired of after awhile.

There are not that many 97SS black M-6s out there and I believe that black would resell faster than red when you decide to get rid of it.

I think that manuals are more appropriate for the enjoyment of the driving experience. While the A-4 will usually provide more consistency in shifting and little better traction off the line, the M-6 will hold its own with practice and it doesn't reduce the power to the rear as much as the A-4. I say go for the auto. Its cheaper, and has less mileage. Dont pass up that deal

Autos can be built to be PLENTY of fun.

I love my anniversary style white with orange stripes , it is however an absolute bitch to keep clean , have to wipe down behind the wheels every day cuz it shows and any water thats sits on it for more than 5 secs leaves lil dirt marks lol. But when clean it is beautiful here my 97

In response to Eddie.. There were two heads/cam LS1's at the track last night that are only hitting about 2 more MPH than I am at the track, and couldn't keep up with me as far as ET goes. If I throw on a set of heads, who's going to be outrunning who here.

With all that said and done, it's the efficiency and practice and comfort level you get with your car in my opinion. I'm hitting 12.4's with maybe 320-325 rwhp... show me how many LS1's are doing that. LT1's from what I can see will out ET an LS1 at the track with much less HP than said LS1. Don't believe me? Look around your local track and disprove me.

Now if you're worried about pulling people in 3rd gear on the street, you're on your own, I don't street race, and when I do it's light to light, and I'll eat up most LS1's you run into on the street that will come my way in an 1/8 mile race.

With 321rwhp I ran 12.2s @ 111+mph with a lid/filter, ported stock TB/MAF, MAC headers & y-pipe, cutout and a 3200 converter. On my best run of 12.222 @ 111.48mph the car went 7.80 @ 88mph in the 1/8th. This was on stock RSA tires also. So you can go fast for little money in the LS1 with the right stuff, this was in a 99 Z28 with $852 worth of mods. Both are great cars but I prefer the LS1 IMHO.

aluminum driveshaft , aftermarket torque converter (an efficient one not a cheap pos , ask the more experienced guys about this) , stiffen the rear suspension , drag radials , pretty much anything you can do to lighten the drivetrain and prevent wheelspin or wheelhop.

Im gonna have a friend box my lower control arms with steel and im gonna get some lca relocators since my cars dropped and I have a severe wheelhop problem at the track , hoping this will help.
