i have a 95 firebird that i wnat to rebuild this winter cause it has 160,ooo on it... i have 3 questions about it
1. i wanna go with a 383 or 396 kit for the rebuild... will just any rotating assy. with a one peice rear main work on the lt1? any know where a good kit is and at a good price? i deff want forged pistons also...
2. for a top end package a saw the gm lt4 is supposed to make 430 hp? anyone has this kit and is it worth it on my 383/396? also is there any other head/intake/cam combos that would work better on my motor in about the same price range? whats the cheapest anyones ever saw the lt4 conv. kit?
3. should i supercharge or not? would a cast steel crank like what comes in most 383 kits take all that power? and i know i would need forged pistons and good rings.. what all would i have to change to go supercharged? like other than what comes in the vortech kit or powerdyne kit what else would i need? and which should i go with? powerdyne or vortech? also when finished how much do you think this combo would lay down at the rear wheels with a 6 speed? thakns guys!
