LT1 "cam only" dyno record

What is it? My friend dyno'd 369.8 STD in his 97 t/a. We'll get the SAE numbers to post. I have yet to see an LT1 dyno higher "cam only", standard or SAE. At any rate, if it's not the record holder then what is? Because I know there is about 15 more rwhp in my friends car.

There have been a handful of 385-410rw cam only solid roller LT1s over the years.

That's what I wasn't sure about. I knew that there had to be higher dynoing solid roller LT1's.

Re: LT1 "cam only" dyno record

So he installed a Cam only and got 120 RWHP? I find it hard to believe a car gained 50% of its power with just a cam and no exhaust or supporting mods.

last to my knowledge, cam only does consider bolt ons.

No rational person would ever make a claim like that. "cam only" is a loose reference refering to the only major internal modification. "Cam" cars will also have the supporting mods (ie. rocker arms, valvesprings, etc..).

I think "stock head" is a lot more accurate term that is usually used for "cam only". Good numbers though

Re: LT1 "cam only" dyno record

I would imagine that since your friend is the guy with the CC306 right. I can imagine that the GM847 would make more power than that.

Cough, cough....title is NOT cam AND lifters only....

BTW, I'm not sure if it would of made more power with the 847. I love the cam but it might be more effective with port work. My friend Terry has a 91 Z and makes about 520 hp with it. His heads are lightly ported GM L98 castings.

420+ RWHP I'm sure. There was a thread awhile back with some guys stock eliminator cars and I'm pretty sure 423 was highest.

Edit: http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showth...ock+eliminator

Re: LT1 "cam only" dyno record

Ok, Then it's official. 369.8 STD is the highest dyno reading for a "cam only" street legal LT1. The last thread, people gave me crap for saying it. I have done the research and cannot find anything higher.

Keep thinking that. Comparing STD to SAE is pointless.
