LT1 Camaro Motor Dilemma: which road do I take?
My LT1 in my 1994 is about to go and I have two options:
(1) get a new LT4 or ZZ4 long block for a few thousand dollars and have a new engine with a healthy 330-355hp)
-OR-
(2) have my engine rebuilt to stock (with the exception of having a few things beefed up like lower compression pistons...) for next to nothing (probably around $1300-1500) and buy a supercharger. If I did this I figure I'd have them rebuild the engine appropriately and would only run low boost, being that this needs to be my reliable daily driver.
HERE is my question, if I do get a long block from chevy, what else does it need exactly? (headers, fuel injection, oil, plugs, wires, etc) Also, how reliable could a car be supercharged running low boost, if I picked this option, what all would I need to do/get? I don't know enough about engines quite yet, but I'm learning. I appreciate and and all input.
