LT1 Canfield Heads arrive...

I purchased these from a fbud on this list here.
CC = 58cc
Intake Valve size = 2.05
Exhaust Valve size = 1.60
Intake flow @ .600 = 270cfm
Exhaust flow @.600 = 200cfm
Intake port runner size = 200cc

I arrived home from work to find this on the front porch...

Tape off the top box ...

Opening one end and exposing the passenger side head ...

Full view of the passenger side head..

Intake port side...

Thanks Neil... I have to head to AZ this Friday, then Upstate New York next week. I'll be back in Houston in January If I don't have to go to Alaska for a new job. At some point, I'll get the new heads on.

Yes. Mickey had them for sale. They were/are in stellar shape. I ordered some new Canfield guideplates from Canfield last week for them. Mickey had been using Self Aligning Crane/GMHPP LT4 HOT kit rockers. My current setup has the 7/16" studs, guide plates and N/A CompCams 7/16" 1.6 promags. The Canfields have studs but they look to be the 3/8" versions. My turbo pistons were configured for 58cc heads so my 8.8:1 cr should still be intact. I have to use FelPro 1010 gaskets with the 4.166 bore for these heads. The guy at Canfield told me I have to make sure the water/oil passages in the 1010's are equivalent to the FelPro 1074's.
UPDATE! (10/29/2009)I do NOT recommend using the 1010's now that I've purchased them and tried to install them. I see NO reason you can't use the 1074's. Pictures occur elsewhere on this thread showing the crucial differences between the configuration of the water passage/oil drainbacks.

I've had them for awhile but I'm just getting a chance to FINALLY put them on when I do the tranny swap (T56 out, TH350 in) this weekend (If the weather holds, no garage )
The tranny arrived today! Got all the major pieces. Just need a dipstick (Prolly a MadMan version), 12 qts of Tranny Fluid and a B&M tranny cooler.

There is like ZERO info on them. I even called Canfield themselves and they didn't know jack about them. I might as well have gone to Dairy Queen and asked the girl behind the counter about these heads. Sheesh....

What made you look for them?

New FelPro gaskets and 7/16" ARP studs for the Canfields.

1010 gaskets up against the Canfield Head...

<Whistles> That's a REAL valve at 2.08".
Mine were a grand methinks. I had to have two seats and their guides replaced. They are all setup now, except for my swapping out the 3/8" studs and putting in the 7/16" replacements. You going for them? About the only things I came across was that George Baxter ran these heads with his S/C convertible LT1 Fbody and ran 9's.

Really crappy video's of George running the numbers. Damn near 8's in a convertible!

thats the ONLY info I came across too lol. I could not find a SINGLE dyno with them
I did find they were supposably "never sold to the public"

I am wondering what kind of port work were done to these ones since they have bigger valves and bigger chambers than all the other ones i've found.

Now that's interesting.... I did run across a few notes here and there that mentioned heads and intake fitment problems. I don't know if that could be decking and milling issues or not. I picked up a friends Intake and will bolt them up before I pull the heads to see if I see any differences.
Let's keep each other posted on this.

if i pick these up, you need new wheels though since we will be 2 of a dozen or so people with these heads, and we both have red lt1s. get GTO wheels and our cars will be twins lol
