lt1 edit vs hypertech
#2
HANDS DOWN...LT1 edit is WAY better!
Do NOT, waste your money on the hypertech.
If anything, you should be comparing LT1 Edit to Custom programming i.e pcmforless.com or madz28.com. Thats a much better comparison.

I had debated going with the Hypertech until I did a search and found the majority of people here do not care for it as much as the LT1 Edit or PCMForLess (to name a few). I personally am going with PCMForLess seeing as how I know just enough about programming to be dangerous.

ok, is this another one of those "jump on the bandwagon" things or what?
what exactly does LT1 Edit do that Hyper' doesnt? im NOT trying to be a smart-***, just curious. also, do you have to have a laptop to run LT1 Edit, or is it its own "module" like Hyper'? how much more expensive is it?? where can you get it??
thanks, jon

This is what LT1 Edit does:
http://carputing.tripod.com/editor_features.html
Yes, you need a laptop--unless you can get you desktop close enough to your vehicle. You will also need a cable available at www.akmcables.com
The cost varies according to what program you buy.

looks to me like there're pretty simular. LT1 Edit has everything in more detail it looks like. i would think that with a stock to mildly modded motor you wouldnt need anything but the Hyper'.
it's like people dont think about things like a laptop. i mean, how the heck is someone like me (who's on a pretty strict budget) supposed to buy a program (that prolly cost at least the same if not more as the Hyper') that uses a laptop to run?? i dont have a laptop and i dont know anyone right off hand that has one that i could borrow. i just think that when suggesting options like that to a newer member, you should throw in that it's a program that runs with a computor, instead of just saying "get that one, i like that one, it's better." and not explaining what's involved in the whole thing.
im not disagreeing that it's not a better programmer OVERALL, just saying that it doesnt sound to me like it's for everyone.
thanks for the info!

I understand what you're saying Jon, but I would hope that someone would read up on the programs rather than take everyones word. All those websites do typically state all required equipment to run their program. You can't exactly post every detail especially when there's a ton of information to be found if one uses the search function.
I also completely agree that LT1 Edit is not for everyone--it's definately not for me because I don't know enough yet to use the program effectivley.
I would however suggest PCMForLess because the programming is done for you based on your modifications. Plus you can buy the optional unlimited email updates in case you make any future changes to your vehicle's setup. However, it does require a laptop or a desktop (if you can get your car close enough to your desktop) and a cable to connect with. The cable is available at www.akmcables.com
Did I do better this time Jon? J/K
