lt1 engine knock

lt1 engine knock
i have a 97 z and the motor(lt1) makes a knocking sound at 2500 rpms, i have had a few people listen to it and they say its a rod bearing going bad an the motor has around 120k on it.... i also have a spare motor that has a rod slung through the oil pan which was still running an never locked up when it was shut down an pulled out, im guessing my big question is, should i pull out my motor an get it fixed, rebiuld my old motor or just go find a rebuilt lt1.... anything will help, i just wanna get my 30th anniversary car back up to shape
