Question LT1 external Fuel pump question?

I just did a fuel pump on my 1988 Firebird for the second time in a little over a year.
I let the fuel go down too low and I must have over heated the pump.
Now I'm not going to go through that with my 97Z28.
When the time comes what is the best and the "quietest pump" that is an external pump for my 1997 Z28?
Thanks,

Chris G.

I run a Boach 205LPH external pump (there's a matching pump in the tank - in parallel), and its reasonably quiet. You will need to add a sump to the tank to run an external pump.

Thanks for the reply.
I know I will have to work out a new pick up in the tank.
I would think that the pump in your car would be over kill for a stock set up?
I was thinking of an aeromotive pump.

One of the 4 A1000 Fuel Pump, P/N 11101 Tsunami Fuel Pump, P/N 11103
700 HP EFI Fuel Pump, P/N 11106 or Inline EFI Fuel Pump, P/N 11109.
I like the last one because it's the cheapest.
But the other ones look nicer and have cleaner mountings.
Thanks,

Chris G.

Re: LT1 external Fuel pump question?

Why do you want to run an external pump? Just curious.

Because I have burned out 2 in my 88 Firebird and it is a big pain to take the tank down to get to it.
And I will never cut my 1997 Camaro Z28 up for an access panel.
I know my pump will die it's just a matter of time.

That was an option for me as well. It can be done, many people do it. They just don't want to go through all the hassle. Of wiring, fittings and plumbing. I'm sure a credible mechanic or motorsports shop can make it happen. It's just the matter of how deep your wallet is.
