I also do believe that these Cobras are conservatively rated in MFG HP specs. There's a Cobra club here and many have stated they pull dyno numbers that would indicate (doing the reverse math for drivetrain loss) FWHP numbers closer to 450HP than the stated 400.

bs, a smaller pulley and hypertech will put u at 427 whp.
STOCK dyno #'s ar not that high. they only put about 350-360whp down, which would put your 450fwhp way off.
again, not trying to bash the cars, just trying to state truth.

Hey Scott,
I hear ya. I keep pressing him to put the car on a dyno so we ALL can see the numbers.
He's a good firend and I talk to him a lot so I do know that these are all the mods he has. Looking at the time slip I have when we raced, he pulled a 1.9 sec 60'...12.5 sec 1/4 mile @ 111MPH. He's gotten much better on his launches since then (Aug 05) and his time slips do show an improvement.

Re: lt1 hanging with 03 cobra
It's going to be hard to do both. I am friends with roughly 20 Cobra owners across the country and the average car is somewhere in the high 400's to low 500's to the wheels (intake, exhaust, ported blower, ice box, pulley, tune, minor etc.) Most of these car's run somewhere in the mid to low 11's at approx. 120-125 mph. There are a few exceptions however (Lou from Laurel Mountain Mustang ran 11.2 with a stock pulley). If you are on a budget then you are going to want to go for ET rather than mph. Otherwise its gonna cost some money to trap that high with an LT1. Now if they have a Kenny Bell or a Whipple then I would forget it unless you got some serious amounts of cash (those cars are sick!)
I don't know what kind of buget you are on or what your idea of streetability is so I am going to tell you what I am planning for my Firehawk. Since I have all but given up on matching my friend mph I am going to build an efficient car to get a better ET than them. Lighten the car as much as possible, install a bunch of suspension components, and spray the crap out of it. Even then its going to be close. Head and cam package will go on eventually but I am on a budget.
I hope this helps. You can also check out stlmustangs.com, svtperfromance.com, modularfords.com, as well as a bunch of others. Just go in there and read some of the signatures in the "terminator" sections.

Re: lt1 hanging with 03 cobra
I know of two local 03/04 Cobra's that put down 381/380 SAE. The rest "only" managed to put down in the 360's-370's. Never seen one dyno 350's.
Heck, my Lightning put down 358/443 SAE stock. Cobra's are more efficient.
Truth can be skewed....

Re: lt1 hanging with 03 cobra
Gotta agree with Canton. Most I've seen on the dyno BONE STOCK put down somewhere in the 360's. My friend's put down 369 and 358 on a dynojet. Stock right down to the paper element. Before he sold it for another one he had a Procharger F1A and put down 689 and 568 to the wheels. The dynograph is just downright insane. If anyone is interested I can post it. That car pulled from 60 to 120 faster than anything I've ever ridden in. That's pretty much why I am giving up the hunt to match trap speed with them. Build an efficient car and hope that you cross the line before he/she catches up.

His car didn't do as well as it should at the track though. I think his best was 11.2 @ 129. It was alot like a turbo car, at about 4000 rpm's is when the boost would really start to hit. The car wouldn't build any boost at the line no matter what rpm he launched at. So he sold it and bought another one and with the basic Cobra bolt-ons he's already run a 11.5 @ 123 on 18's. That's why I'm shooting for 11.4's at whatever mph I can get .

Re: lt1 hanging with 03 cobra
My stock LT1 T/A fullweight ran 13.90's@98mph. Well I took off the cat converter and sprayed a 125 dry shot on it. The car ran 12.50's@111mph on street radials(Kumhos). It was my dailydriver and drove it like that for 2yrs. I would have taken an 03-04 Cobra easily on n2o. Then I decide to put headers, Hotcam kit, PCM tune, Vigilante 2,800, 3.42's stock rear and stock heads. The car would run 12.30's@110mph N/A and 11.40's@120mph spinning on a NX wet kit (still daily driver at the time). Now I can't even find a Cobra to race even when they have n2o, blower pulleys, boltons etc... later Clint

The initial thread wanted to know what it would take to run with 03/04 Cobras. My response is, whatever it takes to run somewhere in the mid to low 11's and/or 120+ mph.
