Lt1 help?
I have 94 camaro. I need some input to help make a decision. I soon will have 3 grand, and Im trying to decide what to do. I need new 02s, opti, waterpump, tps, header gaskets, tps gasket, all throttle body gaskets, spark plugs, oil change, coil etc.
the two routes I want to go is either all of the above, plus hotcam kit($550), 95+opti conversion($650) all the gaskets for install($250), 373 rear gears($500-$700), and computer tune($150).Then eventually suspension.
My other route would be all of the above( either nonvented ac delco opti, or msd), crane 1.6 rr, lt4 valve springs, computer tune, 373 rear end, vented opti some suspension
My engine has 116000 miles.
The advantages of route 1 are, I would clean up top end components, get a better sound, and performance, have all new components except bottom end, block, and a few sensors. learn a little from the experience,
The advantages of 2 would be great drivability, a little more power, and some money left over in case any thing goes wrong (tranny might go soon )
The only reasons why I cant decide are that my tranny might go, and my engine has 116,000 miles. What should I do?

If you have a tight budget and cannot afford unexpected problems, then I would go for option two so you have some money left over. Plus, you can save a couple hundred bucks if you go with the Delco opti versus the MSD.

I'd watch what you spend if your transmission is about to go. You can get it fixed pretty cheap if you go to CPT, but it could cost you well over 1000 anywhere else to 2500. That's the prices here in WV, so it could differ a little for you.
