LT1 Leaks

Where are all the common places for an LT1 to leak oil b/c my engine is soaked with oil on the oil side, in the front it comming from the crank seal, and at the rear i don't know, it is coming from above the oil filter...it is the hugest pain in the ***, plus you can't work on these damned engines.....let me know so i can start hunting these leaks down one by one.

Is your filter on tight? My intake manifold was leaking front and back, but REALLy bad in the back. It was leaving six inch diameter pools of oil overnight. The ftont of my intake leaked on to my timing cover and left about a drip a week. The front could also be the oil seal around the opti.

I fixed my intake leak in about three days, but i took it really slow. That i had to wait a day for a friend to release my fuel lines Stupid things are bizzaches. A few regular hand tools and some ultra copper RTV will have you set for that.

Watch out for that crank seal.. it can be deceptive..I changed mine twice only to find out that it wasn't the crank seal but the opti seal DOH!! my advice replace all of them..

I had a Intake oil leak take out the opti as well, so you should fix asap, I would do intake gaskets, and check thew seals on the front when it is apart

so the main places are the pan and the intake.....ok, i was hoping it would be easier then that....i went to change the plugs last night....i got all but the number 1 cyl(i think)....how in the world do you get to that one, the back 3 (3, 5, 7) i was able to get at fairly nicly when i unbolted the starter and shoved it foward....ANYWAY, how should i clean the oil off the engine without getting the opti wet?
