Lt1 or Ls1
#31
if this was a question like im looking for my first motor lt1 vs ls1. then ya. ls1 is definitely the way to go, but like everyone else said. if your gonna throw money into something that is... still stock. when you could throw that money and make your now stock motor a bolt-on motor.... do that. im rebuilding mine now and dont think i will ever regret doing it. im 17 and need somethign to keep me outta trouble. so rebuilding a engine like an lt1 is perfect to spend my spare time and money in.
good luck whichever route you go
good luck whichever route you go

As others have said, you could sale your lt1 to go towards the ls1.

And like others have said as well, if you swap an LS into an LT be prepared to pay through the nose to get it to work and thats money that could have gone elsewhere into the motor or suspension.

It's a matter of personal opinion, not everyone will like what you like. My LT1 is acting up, oil pressure issues. It's not going to be my daily driver. I've decided to rebuild the motor to something with more pep. I was thinking stroker at most or cam + headwork at least.

People also forget you can sell your complete LT1 setup to offset the cost of the LS1. The LS1 has a bigger aftermarket, more proven combos and people dont stand around and scratch their heads when you talk about 500-575 rwhp hydraulic cammed, stock computer, street motors. Not to mention there is a SHORTAGE of LT1 tuners depending on where you live, almost any big shop does LS1's.
You could sell your car and get into an LS1 car, they are cheap right now....but the swap isnt super bad if you sell your stuff to offset the cost. Plus 98-02 Camaros are one of the ugliest cars ever made.
