LT1 to LT4 Cam question

I'm replacing my LT1 with LT4 intake and AFR LT4 Heads. I was wondering how well the LT4 Hot Cam does compared to other Cams that could be used. I'm not looking for anthing outrageous as would be possible with this setup. Just something for strong mid range power. Not looking for power above 6,000rpm. Also will be installing a Moser 12 Bolt with .373 Spool if that helps with the suggestions.

Thank you!

Re: LT1 to LT4 Cam question

I have had the LT-4 hot cam since 1998. It makes good power. I dynoed at 357 rwhp and 360 torque. My heads are only a stage 1 port job. The cam is very streetable. It sounds like it will fit what you want. There are other cams out there that have the same driving manners as the hot cam and make more power. Others can give more advise on these cams. I just swapped in a 224/235 .525/.536 comp cam. 114 lobe sep.

Re: LT1 to LT4 Cam question

Another question. Can I eliminate the egr and air with that cam and the car still run like it has it? Like program the computer to the LT4 specs or something like that.

Yes, you can but you won't be losing much weight and you won't gain anything by eliminating air and egr. About the only time egr and air delete is good is when you have headers with out provisions for hook ups. The air pump is a small electric motor and the egr is tucked away in back of the intake.

Re: LT1 to LT4 Cam question

The reaon why I removed my air and egr was I got tired of them being in the way while working on the motor. It looks nicer and cleaner without the air.

Re: LT1 to LT4 Cam question

LT4 hot cam = mild mid range power, very good cam.

I love mine.
