lt1 motor mount issues..

man i hope someone has an answer to this-or idea anyways...anyways heres what i got have a 97 ta with n lt1..installed heads from a 95 z28-eliminated egr so i bought a set of pacesetter long tube non emission headers (quick trips) read alot of good things on these headers.bolt the motor back in tranny bolted up.go to set the headers in-drivers side is perfect-go to pass side 1st pipe cyl 1 or 2 ? is hitting the motor mount has the manifold up about n inch..i figured bad header contacted pacesetter sent pics they send me another header, same problem...ok wrong mount..it has a stamped number on it,took it to the local gm dealer and had them run the number its a 93-97 lt1 f body mount...i cant find any answer to the problem...u could take the motor out of the car have that mount on it and not b able to bolt the header up..i m down to having to modify the mount-the guy from pacesetter says should not have to...ny ideas??

If I recall, that motor mount is bolted to the k-member. I bet your motor mount is sagging and causing the engine to sit lower. I've read on more than one occasion where worn out motor mounts were to blame on headers not fitting correctly. Get a set of poly mounts and replace them.

You can see how much better they fit the mount brackets than stock...here is the passenger's side. Just be aware that the poly on the inside of the bolt hole can make it a pain getting the bolts inserted(the poly grabs the threads). There is a metal insert in the hole...it's just during the manufacturing process, the poly moves to the inside of it. You can even see the slight gold edge of the metal insert if you look closely.

I added a couple more pics above.

Also, cylinders are numbered as such.....

-Front of car-
1-2
3-4
5-6
7-8
-Back of car-

the rigid mount that bolts to the block is what the header is hitting-it would need the #2 cylinder pipe moved or a notch cut out of the steel mount..i may have to have a mount made if no ideas

You are puzzling me because the motor mount, on that side of the car is bolted to the k-member and not the block....Cylinder number two is on the passenger's side.

You are correct. However the OP is saying that the header is hitting the bracket that is bolted to the block that bolts into the motor mount and not the mount itself.

OP,
If you can, i would grind down the bracket to give you the clearence before putting a dimple in the header. I would also confirm that you have the correct brackets on the block. Make sure that you to have a rt side vs a lft side.

Oh I see......when he said "mount" I had tunnel vision for the motor mount itself. It never hit me that he was talking about the mount bracket on the engine, but it should have.

thanks guys-i will try to get a pick on here-makes it alot easier then trying to explain...i really really hate to cut the bracket..according to pacesetter no reason i should have to...gm dealership confirmed 93-97 f body lt1 bracket...does anyone know if there are differences in lt1 blocks? is it possible the motor was changed and diff bolt pattern in the block or something like that..
