I noticed on the site it doesnt mention a OPTI for a 1997 LT1. Will it work?

Does the new MSD Opti help eliminate the issue of the stock Opti not fully charging for sparks in the higher rpm ranges that I have so often read about???

the 96 is the same thing, if you look at msd's catalog everything they list for the LT1 the year stops at 96.

The Opti doesn't do the charging, that's a coil issue.

From my experience with the opti. My Cap and rotor parts were in good shape. But the optical side on the other hand. Was totally trashed. The last one I took out had a whole hell of a of rust in it. Therefore just replacing the cap and rotor portion won't solve your problem. You'll have a 50/50 unit. Which is useless. I'de rather wait for the entire unit to come on the market.

Re: LT1 MSD Cap and Rotor - Yes I GOT ONE!!

Would the new MSD opti be able to handle a MSD ignition box? From what I've heard the extra energy in the spark from the box causes corrosion or something.

Now if that new opti came with an ignition box all for $500, I would gladly pay that!

I'd hope it would hold up. I've been using a MSD 6AL on my car since 20k miles and it now has 88k and still the stock opti. I too wonder why MSD shows no luv for the 97 model year in its catalogs?

Ive blown up two reluctor wheels and one rotor on mine... I now have a new opti so when this goes It will either be the msd full unit or the coil conversion... Opti + High Rpm = BANG!!!!

One question. The Non-vented unit says it comes with hoses. What are the hoses for if the unit is non-vented? Anybody know?
the non-vented is the 93-93 style im assuming so u couldnt just buy the 95-97 style without changing other stuff also due to the different dowel pin designs.
